Q&A Jared Leto – Jane Magazine – March 2002
by Stephanie Trong
Jane: What kinds of things do you like to read?
JL: I’m always reading a few books at a time. I’ve been reading Ecology of Fear. It sounds scarier than it is. It’s actually just about the ecological history of Los Angeles. The Hiram Key, it’s about the pharaohs, the Freemasons and the discoveries of secret scrolls. A People’s History of the United States. And a collection of stories by Salinger. I read a lot of stuff on the Internet, too, because I consider most of that fiction.
Jane: What about your band, Thirty Seconds to Mars?
JL: About what? I don’t know anything about that? What is that?
Jane: Don’t you play guitar in it?
JL: I don’t have a band. I don’t know anything about that.
Jane: So, you’re not the type to say, “Let’s go to Balthazar.” JL: What’s that?
Maybe this is the moment that made him seek out that spot and let it become one of his favorite spots in NYC….
“It used to be trendy….”
That’s probably exactly why he likes it.
